MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP-2018

PRE/POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP’ FOR STUDENTS BELONGING TO THE MINORITY COMMUNITIES FOR 2018-2019.

The scholarship at pre-matric level will encourage parents from minority communities to send their school going children to school, lighten their financial burden on school education and sustain their efforts to support their children to complete school education. The scheme will form the foundation for their educational attainment and provide a level playing field in the competitive employment arena. Empowerment through education, which is one of the objectives of this scheme, has the potential to lead to upliftment of the socio economic conditions of the minority communities.

  1. NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP :
  2. A)   M Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities: The scholarship at pre - matric level will encourage parents from minority communities to send their school going children to school, lighten their financial burden on schoo l education and sustain their efforts to support their children to complete school education. The scheme will form the foundation for their educational attainment and provide a level playing field in the competitive employment arena. Empowerment through education, which is one of the objectives of this scheme, has the potential to lead to upliftment of the socio economic conditions of the minority communities..
  3. B)     ELIGIBILITY# : Scholarship will be a warded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination and annual income of their parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh..

Note:    30% of scholarship will be earmarked for girl students. In case sufficient number of eligible girl students ar e not available, then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students..

  1. C)      Merit Cum Means Scholarship For Professional and Technical Courses CS : The Scheme will be evaluated at regular intervals and the cost of the evaluation will be borne by the Ministry of Minority Affairs under the provision of the Scheme. A pro vision of 2 % of the total budget will be made to meet the Administrative and Allied costs viz. expenditure on monitoring of the Scheme, impact study, evaluation study , purchase of office equipment’s, engaging of contract employees, if necessary and other expenditure to run the C ell etc. This will be shared between the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India and the State Governments/UT Administration . .

Note: 30% scholarship is ear marked for girls students of each minority community in a State /UT which is transferable to male student s of that community in case of non - availability of female students in that community in the concerned State /UT . 30% is the floor and not the ceiling fo r eligible girl students.

  1. D)      National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students - Scholarship (Formally Top Class Education for Schedule Tribe Students) :
  1. At present two Central Sector Scholarship schemes of Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) for ST students and Top Class Education for ST Students are implemented by this Ministry to provide financial assistance for pursuing higher education of ST students
  2. The objective of the scheme is to encourage the ST students, a section of society with the lowest literacy levels in the country, to acquire the higher education in the form of (a) fellowships to pursue M. Phil and Ph. D. Courses, with a view to create a pool among them qualified to hold posts of teachers /professionals and other higher stages of employment and (b) pursue Graduate and Post Graduate studies with scholarship in Top Class Institutions of National repute.

 Note: The funds will be released by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs on half yearly basis for Fellowship and in a single instalment for Scholarship immediately after the registration/admission. .

  1. E)     National Scheme for Incentive for the Girl Child for Secondary Education :
  1. Full Tuition fee and other non-refundable dues in respect of Government/Government -funded institutions. However, there will be a ceiling of Rs.2.00 lakhs per annum per student for private sector institutions.
  2. living expenses will be provided as per actuals subject to maximum ceiling of Rs. 2200/- per month per student

Note: The applications are to be verified at School and District level by 15.10.2017

  1. F)   For M. Sc.  Students:Scholarship worth Rs. 24000/- , Rs. 18000/- & Rs. 12000/- per semester for top three
  2. G) For Ph.D. Students: A teaching Assistant ship of 20,000/- per month will be given to selected research scholars from Engineering discipline only.
  3. Scholarship for general & OBC candidates (Pahari Students:

Those students whose parents annual income is less then Rs 1 lakh are eligible to avail scholarship through social welfare department (For Pharai Speaking Community ) jammu and kashmir Social welfare Department.

  1. 3. Scholarship for SC/ST Candidates:

Those students whose parents annual income is less then Rs 1 lakh are eligible to avail scholarship through social welfare department (JK TRABIAL AFFAIRS) of J&K Govt.Candidates
